Events Supporting Teaching
Online Teaching and Learning (OTL)
This online, semester-long workshop prepares faculty to teach courses that have been built for Hybrid, HyFlex, and Online modalities. Each of these modalities requires different teaching methods and strategies because online learning is so different. During this workshop, instructors will learn about the core technologies CBU provides for instruction. Participants will engage with each of the technologies and learn about best practices in their use. Please note that this workshop is based on competency learning, which means participants will have to complete competencies to pass each module. Participants who complete the competencies for all the modules will receive the Online Teaching and Learning (OTL) certificate.
This workshop is offered asynchronously online through Blackboard each semester. Workshop capacity is capped at 20 instructors each semester, so be sure to register soon to secure your spot. You may register by going to the Events Portal or by clicking on one of the links below:
Online Course Design (OCD)
Instructors may wish to build on their experiences in OTL by learning to design courses for Hybrid, HyFlex, or Online modalities. Similar to OTL, OCD is an asynchronous, online workshop delivered through Blackboard. Participants learn about the Course Design Worksheet (CDW), Quality Matters standards (QM), and about the proper application of our core technologies to create learning experiences in online environments. Also built on competencies, participants build a course for an online environment during the semester, culminating in the course being submitted for review to Educational Effectiveness.
This workshop is offered asynchronously online through Blackboard each semester. Workshop capacity is capped at 20 instructors each semester, so be sure to register soon to secure your spot. You may register by going to the Events Portal or by clicking on one of the links below:
