Mildred Wier-Jarvis, ’55, passed into spirit on July 11, 2024. Following a 23-year career with Bank of America, she and her husband of 68 years, Bruce Jarvis, ’60, moved to the Oregon coast. Until her death, much of her time was spent in volunteer service to the community.

tedTed Campbell, ’62, was called home to the Lord on August 14, 2024. Ted attended California Baptist College and majored in history. He served as the student body vice president, was a member of the cross-country team and met his beloved wife Betty, ’63. Ted worked as a sixth-grade teacher in Longview, WA where he also started a Christian traveling singing group, The Lower Columbia Singers. Ted and this group of teenagers traveled the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada singing and spreading the gospel. They were even present to perform for President Carter’s Friendship Force in South Korea. In the early 1980s, Ted was called to be the youth pastor at Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church in Riverside, and it was there that he started the New America Singers, another youth singing group that traveled the world performing and sharing the Gospel. He also worked with the Riverside Unified School District on their GATE program for fifth and sixth grades. Mr. “C” as he was called, was never an inside the box thinker or teacher and was an inspiration for all who had the fortune of learning from him. Ted was also an author, with five books available on Amazon, all revolving around youth and missions. 

Ted is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty, his children Shari Campbell of Rancho Palos Verdes, Ted Campbell, Jr. of Phoenix, Julie Reid of Carson City, NV, Chris Campbell of Easton, CA, their spouses and his grandchildren.

Reva Strickland Reece, ’62, has gone home to be with the Lord. She passed away on August 15, 2024, in Oceanside, where she lived with her daughter.

Darrell Adcock, Sr., ’62, passed away on January 31, 2024. His last place of service was as Pastor at Red Rock Baptist Church (Las Vegas, NV). Darrell served in many capacities including with the California Southern Baptist Convention.

Vaughn Brewster, ’66, passed away on March 10, 2024. His wife, Grace Brewster ’66, will remain at their home in Irvine, CA.

Dr. Henry Peterson, ’66, passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 84. Henry was meant to graduate CBC earlier, but served in the military causing him to delay graduation. He went on to serve as a pastor in the Carlsbad area for many years. His wife, Judy (Heap) Peterson is living in Carlsbad.

Steve Quinnelly, ’69, passed away in October 2023. After graduating from CBC, Steve was called as a youth minister. He also served as school teacher and principal in both private and public schools for over 22 years. He was then called to pastor Mannford Christian Fellowship church in 1993, where he served for the past 30 years until his death in October 2023. He loved God, his family, and baseball. His wife, Connie, remarks, “I am most grateful for our preparation years at CBC, for the many lasting friendships from there, and for the blessing of the past 55 years of serving our Savior together.  

Darwin Reynolds, ’70, passed away on October 9, 2023 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Read more about Darwin’s life here.

Christian Valdivia, ’19, was called home to God on January 29, 2024. Christian had dedicated eight years of his life to serving as a classroom teacher and administrator for Highland Academy in Beaumont, CA. He leaves behind a wife and young daughter. Please lift up his loved ones in prayer as they mourn this tragic loss.
