Course Name: Faculty Research Luncheon, “Lessons from the Journey: Navigating Academia and Building Meaningful Research Partnerships”
Course Description: Academic careers rarely follow a straight path—especially when faced with challenges like limited research capacity, funding barriers, or difficult work environments. In this talk, Dr. Melton will share the hard-earned lessons from her own journey: from stepping into academia without grant-writing experience, to navigating toxic mentorship, to ultimately forging research partnerships that have shaped my career. Whether you're an early-career scholar, a researcher seeking collaboration, or simply looking for ways to thrive in academia, this session will offer practical insights on resilience, growth, and the power of strategic partnerships. Join Dr. Melton and your CBU colleagues us for an honest, motivating conversation about lessons learned and how to chart your own path forward.
