Event Schedule

TUESDAY, APRIL 9

8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Check-in and Info Booth
(Dutton Plaza at Fowler Events Center)

  • Guests check in and receive their lanyard, badge, pins, giveaway, meal voucher, and campus map.

8:30 – 8:50 a.m.
Welcome Session 1  (Dutton Plaza at Fowler Events Center)

  • Enjoy coffee and food during a brief welcome and introduction to Grandparents Day at CBU.

9 – 10 a.m.
Chapel  (Fowler Events Center)

  • Join us for Chapel! Experience student-led worship and a message from Dr. Jerry Root, professor emeritus at Wheaton College and a C.S. Lewis scholar. Come with your student or enjoy the session while your student is in class.

10:15 – 10:35 a.m.
Welcome Session 2  (Dutton Plaza at Fowler Events Center)

  • Enjoy coffee and food during a brief welcome and introduction to Grandparents Day at CBU.

10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Grand Memories  (Stamps Courtyard)

  • Snag a family picture at the Grandparents Day photo booth and write a card to your grandparent! Students can also write notes to send with their photo to their grandparents who cannot attend.

10:45 – 11:45 a.m.
Chapel  (Fowler Events Center)

  • Join us for Chapel! Experience student-led worship and a message from Dr. Jerry Root, professor emeritus at Wheaton College and a C.S. Lewis scholar. Come with your student or enjoy the session while your student is in class.

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
C.B.U. (Created by You) Workshop: Leather Stamping 1 
(Innovators Auditorium - Side A)

  • Make a leather key fob and personalize it via leather stamping. *Additional Fee $5 (Same price for all participants)

C.B.U. (Created by You) Workshop: Tote Decorating 1 
(Innovators Auditorium - Side A)

  • Customize a canvas tote bag. Choose from an assortment of design options and decorate it to your liking using various artistic mediums, including ink stamps and iron-on patches. *Additional Fee $5 (Same price for all participants)

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Lunch with your student  (Various Campus Dining Locations)

  • Each General Registration includes one meal ticket to be used at any dining location for either Lunch or Dinner on 4/9/24.

Noon – 3 p.m.
Art Market  (Wallace Lawn)

  • Shop student art and handmade products at the Art Market!

  • Join us for Bingo and get ready for lots of fun prizes to share! Called by the always enthusiastic Josh Moss, Senior Director of Alumni, Parent & Donor Engagement.

Estate Planning Workshop  (Business Conference Room)

  • Learn how to make important life decisions for you and your family through this practical and informative seminar led by Vice President for University Advancement, Paul J. Eldridge, J.D. This is a primer on basic estate planning issues, including: Should I have a will or trust? What about a guardian for my children? Why do I need a healthcare agent? How can you preserve assets for loved ones and the causes you care about? And much more!

Travel Accomodations

CBU has relationships with several hotels in the area. Check out our website for a few recommendations.

While we don’t run an airport shuttle for those flying, CBU has a relationship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Follow the instructions on our website to plan for your personal car rental. There are also ride share companies that do provide services from ONT and LAX (e.g. Lyft).

We celebrate Grandparents Day to honor the grandparents in our students' lives. Extended family and friends are welcome to join in the fun of this special day!

Yes, classes are regularly scheduled to take place on Grandparents Day.

We have compiled a schedule of optional activities to take place throughout the day. You will be able to join in any of those activities without your student if they are in class.

You also can choose any other optional campus activities to pass the time, such as:

  • Shopping at the Campus Store,
  • Enjoying a hand-crafted coffee or refreshment at Wanda’s Café or Lancer’s Landing,
  • Exploring our beautiful campus, including iconic CBU sites such as Fortuna Fountain, Palm Drive, Harden Square and many more!

We invite you to participate in whichever activities best suit your schedule and interests!

A general registration ticket purchase allows you and other guests to participate in any of the programmed activities organized for this special event (workshops, campus tours, etc.). It also qualifies you to receive a meal ticket (valid for lunch or dinner the day of the event), a 10% discount at the Campus Store and a fun gift at check-in.

Please enter campus through the Adams Street entrance and park in the East Parking Structure, located on the corner of Adams and Diana Street.

Please check in with us at the Dutton Events Center Plaza near the East Parking Structure when you arrive. There will be signage to help direct guests from the East Parking Structure to the check-in station.
