Part of CBU’s Core 4 is for students to be Globally Minded. One of the ways we support this is by creating Community Life events with a cultural emphasis. These special events are designed to introduce CBU’s students to different cultures through very intentional programming—all while creating opportunities for students to connect.

Cultural Celebrations

Asian American Pacific Islander Celebration

Our AAPI Celebration recognizes Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders. The event celebrates AAPI's impact on culture, history, and society. This special event highlights the diverse culture with food, art, student performers, and fashion among the Asian American Pacific Islander population.

Black History Celebration

The MLK Tribute is a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision and a celebration of African-American history.

The Black History Month Celebration celebrates African-American history and culture, including music, historical figures, poetry, and cuisine.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

National Hispanic Heritage Month is an observation and celebration of the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Our Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta is an opportunity for the CBU community to experience the Hispanic culture through authentic cuisine, traditional music and dance, and performing and visual arts.

Cultural Excursions

These occur several times a year and are a chance for students to experience diverse cultures across California through food, art, historical sites, music, architecture and lifestyle.

Collaboration Events

The Community Life team collaborates with other CBU offices to host additional cultural events including Lunar New Year and Festival of Colors.

Lunar New Year celebrates Asian history and culture with music, interactive stations, performances and food.

Festival of Colors celebrates the history and culture of India with music, activities and a color throw.
