The Division of Social Work Alumni Association (DSWAA) was founded in 2022 with a mission to unite all alumni from the Division of Social Work. Some aims of the DSWAA are to engender collegial support, cultivate networking, and offer ongoing trainings and professional development opportunities. The Division of Social Work is committed to continue to invest in the success of alumni — post graduation and beyond.

The California Baptist University, Division of Social Work Alumni Award is a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding alumni from each Doctor in Social Work, Master in Social Work and Bachelor in Social Work programs within the Division of Social Work.
Candidates for the award are those who have demonstrated social work ethical practice towards clients, colleagues, practice settings, professional colleagues, and society. Further, in alliance with the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics, awardees have demonstrated the virtues of: service, social justice, dignity and importance of all persons, integrity and competence.
Award recipients are honored at the Division of Social Work, Doctorate in Social Work Gala Friday July 19 from 6-9 p.m., in Riverside, CA. The award recipient(s) will be provided with specific venue details.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
- Nominees must have at least one degree from the Division of Social Work
- Nominees must have achieved a high level of success within their chosen field of endeavor, which is exemplified by being recognized by their peers, clients and/or community
- Preference will be given to nominees who have participated in community activities as well as activities supporting Division of Social Work
- Award recipient is required to attend the Division of Social Work, Doctorate in Social Work Gala Friday July 19th from 6-9pm, in Riverside, CA.
- The award recipient must be or become a member of the Division of Social Work Alumni Association in order to receive the award.

Dr. Thomas was awarded a Special Congressional Recognition in 2022. His research interests include integrating macro-level social work and crimogenesis into evidence-based rehabilitation with the justice involved population.

- The Advocate: CBU Social Work Blog
The Advocate is a CBU Social Work blog written by other social workers. It provides social workers and other helping professionals with staying informed about exciting topics relevant to our profession.
Alumni are encouraged to submit blogs on their topics of interest. Please review and edit your written content and the blog submission guidelines (listed below). Submit your work to cbusocialwork@gmail.com. You will be notified if your work has been selected.
Blog Submission Guidelines:
- Consider a brief title of fewer than 10 words.
- The length of the blog post submission should be between 500 and 700 words.
- References should be in American Psychological Association (APA) format. Use the APA 7th edition manual or Purdue Online Writing Lab.
- When applicable, include links to online resources.
- You may provide two quality images (e.g., headshot and image related to the topic)
- Provide brief biography and a link to your professional social media or LinkedIn.
- Submit your Word document (.docx, .doc, or Google document link) to: cbusocialwork@gmail.com.
