What is Title IX?
Title IX is a Federal civil rights law enacted in 1972 that prohibits sex discrimination at educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance.
How do I report sexual misconduct/discrimination?
There are several options to file a report:

What happens when the Title IX Office receives a formal complaint of sexual misconduct?
The Title IX Coordinator will contact the Complainant(s) and Respondent(s) to review the Title IX process, provide information regarding support/resources, and address questions.
How does the Title IX Office address retaliation?
Safety is a priority at CBU and retaliation is a violation of University policy.
Retaliation is defined as: "any action by any person that is perceived as: intimidating, hostile, harassing, retribution, or violent that occurred in connection to the making and investigation of the report."
The University will impose sanctions on any faculty, student or staff member found to be engaging in retaliation.
If sexual misconduct occurs while I was engaging in behavior that was in violation of the Standard of Student Conduct, will I get in trouble?
California Baptist University’s first priority is to prevent sexual harassment and sexual discrimination. In response to such a disclosure, the University has a Self-Disclosure/Safe Harbor Policy that states CBU will prescribe an accountability/restoration process. Self-disclosure is not judicial in nature and will not be documented as such if the Student adheres to the prescribed accountability/restoration process. This Self-Disclosures/Safe Harbor policy does not apply to the possession of child pornography, which must be reported to law enforcement pursuant to California law.
Do Complainants and Respondents need to go through the Title IX process alone?
No, both parties are provided the opportunity to be accompanied by an adviser.
I don’t want to make a formal complaint. Is there someone I can talk to who can offer me support and confidentiality?
California Baptist University has designated staff that is appointed by the University to receive Complaints of discrimination and maintain confidentiality. Exceptions to confidentiality/privacy include reports of child abuse, abuse or neglect of disabled or elderly persons, and when a party poses an imminent danger to themselves or others. Please contact the Office of Spiritual Life or the Counseling Center to speak to someone confidentially.
