Life at CBU
Why did you choose your major? What interested you in this particular field of study?
I was very interested in kinesiology and I wanted to get a deeper understanding of
the field. I like that kinesiology allowed me to look into something that I have a
great interest in—athletics—from a scientific standpoint.
What did you like about being in this program at CBU?
I like that the class sizes were small and that professors were always open to answer
questions. I was never intimidated to ask questions in class at CBU, which was something
that I did not experience in my undergraduate institute with 600+ person classrooms.
What did you think about your professors?
They were all well educated and very easy to talk to. They all inspired me to want
to learn more and go further in my studies and into research after CBU.
How did you grow (spiritually, socially, educationally) while in this program at CBU?
I don’t think that I really knew how to study until I came to CBU. It provided the
perfect environment for me to find my own rhythm and what worked best for me. I also
feel that it was the first time that I put God into my education, which made a huge
positive difference. I also made great lifelong bonds with my some of my classmates.
Did your major help you figure out your purpose?
Yes, it made me realize that I can turn my interests in sports into a career.
Life after CBU
What have you done since graduating?
I enrolled and graduated from California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt
University with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. I am now in my last year of
foot and ankle surgical residency. I received several scholarships while in that program.
How has your major and time at CBU prepared you for your life and career after college?
It gave me the knowledge and the foundation to go deeper in my next degree. I also
learned how to effectively study at CBU.
How are you making a difference in the world? How are you living your purpose?
I am in my last year of residency. I currently work with a lot of diabetics and immune-compromised
patients, educating them on their health, treating their wounds and injuries and help
them live a more productive life. I also volunteer in community events whenever I
can.
