Meet the IEP Faculty
Heather Snavely
Heather is the director of the Intensive English Program, and has been teaching English for over 20 years. She has master’s degrees in TESOL and Intercultural Studies, and has taught ESL in the United States, China, and Vietnam. Heather loves to travel and learn more about other cultures, and has visited over 20 different countries. In her free time, Heather enjoys hiking, watching movies, reading, and doing random things with her friends.
Steve Burns
Steve has master’s degrees in both applied linguistics/second language instruction and theology, and has been teaching in ESL/EFL capacities for nearly 20 years. He has traveled extensively, lived, and taught internationally, as well as studied a variety of languages and cultures. In free time, Steve enjoys cooking, helping his wife homeschool their 5 children, and working with youth in faith-based outreach.
Anita Philobos
Anita has a Master’s Degree in TESOL and has been teaching for over 30 years. She has taught in England, Colombia, Kuwait, Mexico, and several universities and community colleges in California. Anita loves traveling and has been to 6 out of the 7 continents! In addition to teaching international students, she also homeschooled all three of her children.
Jenna Stokes
Jenna has an M.S. in TESOL and has been teaching for over 10 years. Even though Jenna is a 5th-generation-born Californian, she has traveled across the United States, in Europe and South America and has been a volunteer with Manna Worldwide in Guatemala. Jenna loves hosting Sunday lunch with family, listening to worship music, making crafts, and baking. She is married to John and they have two grown daughters and one son-in-law.
Aaron Kilmer
Aaron has a Master's Degree in both TESOL and Theology and has been teaching in some capacity for over 20 years. In addition to teaching ESL and Theology here in California, he taught for nearly nine years at several universities in Turkey. When Aaron isn't teaching he enjoys watching sports and traveling. Aaron is married to his college sweetheart and has three daughters and a son.
Kristen Dunskey
Kristen is a graduate of CBU and has a Master’s Degree in Education, with which she taught middle school English for eight years. During her teaching, she worked with several international students and developed a passion for English as a second language. This experience led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in English with an emphasis in TESOL. Kristen enjoys traveling and reading world literature to experience new places through books.
