Program Details
Consistent with the university student outcomes, upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Human Services degree, graduates will be able to:
- Effectively present information orally and in writing at the undergraduate level.
- Describe the history of the helping relationship, intervention strategies within different settings, managed care and models of service delivery in human services.
- Apply biopsychosocial theories, principles and concepts related to the human services field, profession, and society at large.
- Evaluate quantitative and qualitative research methodology to the study of human services.
- Evaluate issues related to diversity, human rights, families and social institutions.
- Apply knowledge of ethical considerations, crisis management and community needs to assessment and intervention in human services.
- Integrate Christian faith with biopsychosocial theories, concepts and principles in the human services field.
HMS 310: Diversity and Social Justice
Students will be introduced to issues of diversity, oppression, human rights, and social justice.
HMS 340: Case Management/Assessment in Human Services
This course will emphasize community organizational theory and practice in human services, and community needs and assessment. In addition, students will be asked to develop change strategies and planning techniques to address deficits.
HMS 420: Crisis Intervention
Introduction to the theory and practice of crisis intervention including triage assessment, skill-building, cultural implications, and practical applications.

CBU accepts applications for online enrollment throughout the year, and most online degree programs can start at 6 semester entry points per calendar year.

There are several reasons why the online human services program at CBU is exceptional. The first thing is the experience that the professors bring into the program which has helped enrich the learning experience. Second is the flexibility of the program. I was able to work full time and work my studies around that. Finally, the theological incorporation is a unique aspect of the program that adds meaning to the coursework. My learning experience at CBU was rewarding and fulfilling.
