1. What kind of careers could I move into with this degree?
This degree can be used to help create a career as a mental performance consultant and advance careers in positions such as college coaching, HR or an academic advisor.
  2. When do classes meet?
The SPP program is designed to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals. All classes meet in the evening, about 3x per week, typically between 4:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. during the weekdays of Monday-Thursday. This schedule is subject to change based on semester availability. All courses are 16 weeks long and are conducted on our campus where ample free parking is available.
  3. Can I take these semesters consecutively?
Yes, the program is built for students to complete each semester consecutively, including summer semester, in order to complete the program in 4 semesters.
  4. What if I want to earn my practicum hours later?
You can certainly do that, but you would likely have to set up your own internship sites and hire mentors (from the AASP registry) or enroll in a program that offered these applied hours.
  5. Am I required to have work experience to enter the program?
No. However, the SPP program is designed for the working professional looking to advance professionally. Students from a variety of life and academic experience and backgrounds are integrated into classes to maximize networking and learning across generations, cultures and industry specialties. The Internship requirements apply only to the on-campus program.  Students will take 4 practicum courses and be given the opportunity to intern at multiple performance sites such as CBU's own athletic team and nearby college and high school sport teams. Interning at these sites will allow students to earn the 400 hours required by AASP to obtain their CMPC.
  6. Is there an accreditation for the SPP program?
California Baptist University is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. There currently is no program-specific accreditation required for any sport and performance psychology graduate programs.
