Candidates interested in earning their Bilingual Authorization while earning their teaching credential must be accepted into the university through the graduate credential program.

Candidates must meet the application requirements for the credential program.

Once accepted into the credential program, candidates will work with the School of Education to meet requirements for the BILA authorization including:

  • Pass a program-specific interview in Spanish.
  • Meet language requirements:
    • Pass CSET 147 Spanish Subtest III
      • CSET 147 can be waived with:
        • A major in Spanish
        • Valid Single Subject Spanish teaching credential
        • Earning these simultaneously to the BILA

Credentialed teachers interested in earning their Bilingual Authorization must be accepted into the university. Click here to begin your application and select graduate programs.

Application requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum of 2.75 GPA is required. (Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements may have additional application requirements)
  • Program-specific interview in Spanish. Interview will address:
    • What are your educational goals?
    • How will this program help meet those goals?
    • What makes you a good fit for CBU?

Once accepted to the university, candidates will work with the School of Education to meet the following requirements to be recommended for the BILA authorization:

  • Hold a valid California teaching credential
  • Meet language requirements:
    • Pass CSET 147 Spanish Subtest III
      • CSET 147 can be waived with:
        • A major in Spanish
        • Valid Single Subject Spanish teaching credential
        • Earning these simultaneously to the BILA
