  • ECE sophomore students Marissa Hunter and Jennifer Nishimura are awarded the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship. The SMART Scholarship- for-Service Program is funded by the Department of Defense (DoD).  Benefits of this award include full tuition and education related expenses, stipend, summer research internships, health insurance, and employment placement at a DoD facility upon degree completion. 
  • ECE alumnus Methode Maniraguha, owner of Current Renewables Engineering, Inc. in Riverside, was selected for the 2020 Emerging Entrepreneur Award by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. He was recognized for this award due to his company's impressive growth in the solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) industry and recent expansion to offer cloud-based design and engineering services for solar, BESS, and electric vehicle charging stations.  Originally from Rwanda, Maniraguha received his BS-ECE degree from CBU in 2013. 

  •  Dr. Rod Foist, professor of electrical and computer engineering, presented a paper titled An Electronics Lab Project - Tutorial and Design of Printed Circuit Board "big blinky", at the 2020 American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) virtual conference, June 22-26, 2020. This paper is co-authored by Dr. Foist with Dr. John Butler, assistant professor of ECE, and Gibson Fleming, ECE graduate of May 2020. 

  • ECE students graduated in December 2019 and May 2020 found employment with engineering companies and organizations including Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Southern California Edison, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC)-Corona, Design West Engineering, etc.

  • ECE students Cassidy Aranda, Mollyana Wood, and Bethany Lopez attended the WE19 - annual international conference for the Society of Women Engineers on November 6, 2019. Together with other women engineering students from CBU, they also competed at the conference as one of the eleven chosen teams.

  • ECE senior student Benjamin Vincent presented a paper titled "Low-cost remote monitoring system for small-scale UPS installations in developing countries" at the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC 2019), Oct. 17-20, 2019, Seattle, WA. This paper is co-authored by all three members of his capstone design team and their advisor, Dr. Seunghyun Chun, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering. 

  • The IEEE student branch at CBU hosted four teams (2 from CBU and 2 from California State University - San Bernardino) for their participation in the IEEEXtreme  24-hour programming competition, in the Dennis and Carol Troesh Engineering Building, from 5pm Oct. 18 to 5pm Oct. 29, 2019. The IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE student members compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. 

  • ECE senior student Cassidy Aranda attended the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) of Women in Computing, Oct. 1-4, 2019, in Orlando, Florida. The GHC is the world's largest gathering of women technologists. Cassidy received a Women of Color in Tech Scholarship which fully funded her $1000 general attendee admission.

  • Since summer 2019, ECE junior students found internship at engineering companies and organizations including Northrop Grumman, Google, Bourns, Southern California Edison, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) – Corona, etc.
