The power of visual storytelling in our world has never been clearer, and CBU's broadcast and digital media production program gives students the technical tools to produce dynamic video packages and the reporting skills to thrive in an ever-changing industry.
Program Intro
With practicum courses built into the curriculum, CBU's bachelor's degree in broadcast and digital media production allows students to gain knowledge and experience by working both in front of and behind the camera producing full news packages to be used on CBU TV and Lancers Noticias. The BA in Broadcast and Digital Media Production will develop a broad range of competencies required of a broadcast and digital media leader with emphasis given to developing both studio/television and live news production, content creation, broadcast production and more.
Students will get hands-on experience in the production of CBU TV (English news broadcast) and/or Lancers Noticias (Spanish news broadcast).

What You'll Learn
Students graduating with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast and digital media production will learn to:
- Demonstrate the ability to acquire, critically analyze and present journalistic messages in an appropriate format using journalistic principles.
- Articulate and apply a Christian worldview to the legal, ethical and social responsibilities within the discipline of journalism.
- Evaluate and critique broadcast and production practices both holistically and in terms of their component parts, namely, audio, video, scripting, production and editing.
- Demonstrate competency in shooting and editing video in the field and studio, using professional-level editing processes and equipment.
- Develop competencies as a producer by organizing the editorial flow and technical content of journalistic platforms.
Program Details
BMP 220 / 440: Practicum: CBU TV / Lancers Noticias
Advanced hands-on experience in the final packaging and production of public-facing news broadcasts for CBU TV and/or Lancers Noticias, the student-run newscasts of Lancer Media Group.
JRN 315: News Reporting
Practice in gathering information, conducting interviews and using online databases in writing and reporting news stories. Emphasis on style, clarity, accuracy, responsibility in handling the reporting of news. Laboratory and fieldwork.
BMP 261: Intro to Broadcast and Video Production
An in-depth exploration of the tools and processes of a broadcast newsroom, including the studio equipment and editing software used in the production of producing and packaging relevant, engaging newscasts.

CBU TV is a broadcast created, written, filmed, anchored and edited by students. The program includes story packages that cover news, sports and features on campus and in the community, as well as a Spanish-language segment, Lancers Noticias.
