The entry-level MSN program is designed for candidates who hold a non-nursing bachelor's
degree and seek to transition professionally into the field of nursing. Those who
have completed all prerequisite courses may apply directly to the EL MSN program. Those who have not yet completed prerequisites
for the EL MSN program may apply to the Graduate Pre-Nursing program at CBU.
Reach your goals at your convenience Students who have never taken a nursing class can reach their goal of obtaining a
master’s in nursing. EL MSN students complete pre-licensure nursing courses which
will prepare them to take the National Council Licensure Examination. Once licensed
as a registered nurse, the student completes post-licensure coursework to earn a Master
of Science in Nursing.

Meet Some of Our Faculty
Margaret Matthews
Professor of Nursing
I found my calling for nursing while serving in Jamaica, West Indies, and never turned
back. After practicing at the bedside for 24 years as a cardiothoracic nurse, I followed
my passion for teaching to CBU. Since my start at the College of Nursing, it has been
my goal to offer a rigorous curriculum while consistently maintaining a strong faith
environment within my classroom.
I have been honored to be a nurse for over 30 years. I was a PICU/CVICU nurse for
over 20 years, where I was a member of the ECMO team, a member of the transport team,
a charge nurse and a manager. I love to teach, mentor and disciple students; serve
those who are weak and vulnerable; share the love of Jesus with the lost; and volunteer
in the community.
I worked across the nursing spectrum as a student, licensed vocational nurse and registered
nurse before entering academia in 2016. As an introvert, teaching within higher education
was something I never imagined doing, but God had other plans for me! When I trusted
His direction, I was humbled and honored to share my 10+ years of experience in the
field of nursing with my students. My blessings were just outside of my comfort zone!
