Consistent with the university student outcomes, upon completion of the Master of Science in Kinesiology degree, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate professionalism through effective oral and written communication.
- Evaluate and interpret data related to kinesiology.
- Examine and apply legal and ethical principles related to kinesiology.
- Integrate a Christian perspective as it relates to kinesiology, health and wellness.
- Apply scientific methods related to biomechanics, exercise physiology, and exercise testing and prescription.
- Apply pedagogical principles related to teaching and instructional methods common in the professions of human movement, exercise, health and fitness.
- Examine and implement advanced strategies that enhance exercise, performance, nutrition, health and wellness.
KIN 505: Ethics and Leadership in Kinesiology
This course will focus on value systems and their role in ethical leadership. Ethical issues in kinesiology, sport, exercise, and physical education are examined, with the application of leadership theory and fundamental principles in guiding ethical discussion, assessment and evaluation.
KIN 552: Advanced Study of Sport and Exercise Psychology
This course will focus on psychological theory and application towards sport and exercise performance. In-depth analysis of sport psychology theory and exercise behavior will be applied to areas such as motivation, goal setting, burnout, anxiety, attention/concentration, and behavior change.
KIN 557: Fitness Testing and Exercise Prescription for Special Populations
This integrated lecture and virtual lab course focuses on the administration and interpretation of exercise tests for special populations. Lectures and interactive labs will help prepare students to identify normal and abnormal physiological responses of the human body before, during and after the administration of various exercise testing and training protocols.
