Join Global Service in Reaching the Nations

The Global Service team in Spiritual Life exists to invest in the CBU community to develop followers of Jesus who fully engage in his global mission. In addition to involving students in International Service Projects (ISP), we also want to challenge, nurture, and involve CBU faculty, staff, and alumni in making disciples of all nations here and around the world (Mt. 28:18-20). Here are some different ways to connect with us in global engagement through learning, service, and leadership.

SERVE | ISP MOBILIZER

A mobilizer is a CBU faculty or staff member who intentionally looks for ways to share God's heart for the nations and the opportunities available through ISP with their sphere of influence, through events, meetings, classroom interaction, etc. Personal testimony of experience and transformation is a powerful tool for connecting students to God's global mission. The Global Service team will resource mobilizers with information and tools to recruit students. While the primary emphasis will come in the fall (while ISP applications are open), our goal is to resource mobilizers to keep the conversation about global missions going throughout the year as they interact with students.

SERVE | EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are CBU faculty, staff, or alumni who meet a significant need during the mobilizing and training season. Current events where volunteers play a key role include Team Reveal, Grad Flowers, Blood Drives, and Intensive Training Weekend (ITW). Event volunteers can hold other roles such as mobilizers and rope-holders as well. Those who sign up for this role will be notified well before each specific event and invited to sign up on a per-event basis.

LEAD | ISP TEAM LEADERS

Team leaders are CBU faculty, staff, or alums who shepherd and prepare a team of 7-11 students to engage in an International Service Project (ISP). During the spring, leaders mentor students in their walk with Jesus and prepare to serve in his global mission. During the summer, team leaders travel internationally, serve alongside, and manage their teams over two or three-week projects. They serve as liaisons for the ISP team, the field, and the Global Service team in support of the goals and student outcomes of the ISP program.

If you are interested in investing in students as an ISP team leader, please review our Leader Expectations.

LEAD | TEAM LEADER MENTEE

As a pathway for preparing and training new ISP Team Leaders, experienced team leaders who have successfully led two or more ISP teams can recommend a faculty/staff/alum to mentor in the role of future team leader. Mentees are required to participate in all training requirements for team leaders and participants, in addition to serving with the team overseas. Leaders proactively invest in mentees through an inductive learning model (model, assist, release). Mentees are required to raise full support for the project.
