The research conducted in this lab is broadly interested in how children and adults develop beliefs, draw conclusions about truth, and think about the nature of reality, especially as it relates to questions about science and religion. The research is mixed-method, drawing from quantitative and qualitative methods, with the goal of increasing knowledge about how beliefs are constructed, changed, influenced and maintained. The researchers are also interested in how specific beliefs influence other life domains, for example unpacking how religious and spiritual beliefs impact health or virtue development. We expect this knowledge to contribute to scientific dialogues about these processes and hope to provide insight for scientists, educators, parents, and ministers as to how to engage the beliefs and knowledge of individuals in diverse settings.
