Why did you choose your major or graduate degree program? What interested you in this
particular field of study?
I chose my field of study because of my deep passion for public service and my desire
to make a meaningful impact on communities. The role of a city manager offers the
unique opportunity to blend leadership, strategic planning and problem solving to
address the diverse needs of a city. I’ve always been inspired by the idea of creating
positive change in people's lives by improving infrastructure, enhancing public safety,
fostering economic development and ensuring efficient municipal operations.
What excites me most about this field is the ability to work collaboratively with
teams, elected officials and residents to build a thriving community. The dynamic
nature of the work — ranging from managing budgets to navigating complex policy issues
— fuels my passion and drives my commitment to public service. This career allows
me to combine my leadership skills with my dedication to serving others, making it
an incredibly rewarding path for me.
What did you like about being in this program at CBU?
What I appreciated most about being in the program at California Baptist University
was the way it seamlessly integrated faith into the educational experience. The program
didn’t just focus on academic and professional development but also emphasized the
importance of ethical leadership and service, aligning perfectly with my values and
aspirations in public service. It was inspiring to learn in an environment where faith
was not only respected but also encouraged as a guiding principle in both personal
and professional life.
Additionally, the flexibility of CBU’s online system was invaluable. Balancing the
demands of my career and personal life, the program’s structure allowed me to pursue
my education without compromising my other responsibilities. The support from faculty
and staff, combined with the thoughtfully designed coursework, made me feel connected
and empowered, even from a distance.
I am deeply grateful to CBU for providing such a meaningful and adaptable learning
experience. It wasn’t just an academic journey; it was a holistic growth experience
that prepared me to lead with purpose and integrity.
What did you think about your professors?
I had a profound appreciation for the professors at California Baptist University.
Their professionalism was evident in every interaction — whether through prompt and
thoughtful feedback, engaging lectures or their availability to support students.
It was clear that they were deeply committed to their roles as educators and mentors,
ensuring that we not only succeeded academically but also developed the skills necessary
to thrive in our careers.
What truly set them apart was their extensive experience and connections to real-world
roles in the fields they taught. Many of my professors had firsthand experience in
leadership, public administration and related industries, which brought a level of
authenticity and relevance to the coursework. They shared practical insights, real-life
examples and best practices that bridged the gap between theory and application.
Additionally, their networks within the professional world provided valuable opportunities
for students to connect with industry leaders and understand the dynamics of public
service and management. This combination of professionalism, expertise, and practical
application created an enriching and impactful learning environment that left a lasting
impression on me.
How did you grow (spiritually, socially, educationally) while in this program at CBU?
My time in the program at California Baptist University was a period of significant
growth in every aspect of my life — spiritually, socially and educationally. Spiritually,
the integration of faith into the curriculum and the supportive environment encouraged
me to reflect on my purpose and values. I found myself more grounded, with a renewed
commitment to serving others with integrity and compassion. The program reminded me
of the importance of aligning my work with a greater mission.
Socially, the program provided opportunities to build meaningful relationships with
both peers and professors. Engaging in discussions, collaborating on projects and
sharing experiences allowed me to connect with others who shared similar goals and
passions. These relationships weren’t just confined to the classroom — they became
part of a larger professional network that I continue to value and rely on.

in all facets of life, preparing me to make a positive impact in my field.
Did your program help you figure out your purpose?
I already knew my purpose, but the program helped me solidify it.
