Life at CBU
Why did you choose your major or graduate degree program? What interested you in this
particular field of study?:
It has been my passion and desire that I want to make a contribution in the leadership
of the Church and to help others towards a better future for the Church. When I saw
the opportunity at the YLGen Educate (Lausanne Movement), I got interested in the
content of the course because it led in the direction I want to go.
What did you like about being in this program at CBU?:
The diversity and exposure of how different cultures understand leadership. The biblical
application of every course made me see every lesson learned in God's eyes. Everything
was relevant and dynamic.
What did you think about your professors?:
Very knowledgeable and experienced. In their busy schedule, they take time to read
and correct my work. They are also humble and ready to help at any time. It is an
amazing team.
How did you grow while in this program at CBU?:
With the limitation of being online, I have learned a lot on class interaction, especially
the reflections that were done, which made me grow spiritually and have a different
and cross-cultural perception of the many lessons. I have interacted with many of
my colleagues and professors.
Did your program help you figure out your purpose?:
Yes! I applied every lesson, and I saw success. As a lead Pastor in a small Church,
I need to introduce changes and maintain them, and move people to work as a team,
which I have experienced. I am sure I would not have achieved what I have if I had
not taken this program.
Life after CBU
What have you done since graduating?:
I have not changed jobs, but I lead the Church in a Sanctuary construction that, so
far, has gone on very well with exceeding expectations. I acknowledge the provision
and the grace of God in the process, but leading me to take this program is part of
His grace and provident. The skills I developed and applied from the course changed
the way we are working, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
What are your current job duties?:
Leading the Church by managing what is already in place and guiding in fulfilling
our vision.
How has your program and time at CBU prepared you for your life and career after college?:
I can say I am more focused and articulate in providing leadership. I work well with
everyone because I have understood we are all different and we are all useful if only
we can understand and appreciate our characters and how we work.
Is there anything you learned at CBU that you still use in your professional life
today?:
A lot. Communication, leading change in an organization, handling human resources,
and understanding finances in an organization. I have never seen myself as sales salesperson,
but now I have been convinced that I have always done sales, and now in my context,
I am a salesperson.
How are you making a difference in the world? How are you living your purpose?:
I am not only leading my Church alone, but I have also been going out to train others
and helping others in making decisions by broadening their thinking in their leading
roles.
What are your future goals and plans?:
I certainly read a lot on leadership at the moment and love to attend any leadership
training at all levels. If it is the will of God, I would love to pursue a PhD in
Leadership Studies.
Would you recommend CBU to others?:
I will recommend without reservation. The diversity is amazing with an excellent,
understanding staff and faculty who are ever ready to help.
