Brian Bovee

Director, CBU Center for Cybersecurity, Director, Bachelor of Science, Information Technology Program

Dr. Bovee is the director of three programs within the Robert K. Jabs School of Business at California Baptist University: the Master of Science in Information Technology Management, the BS in Cybersecurity, and the BS in Computer Information Technology. In addition to leading the initiatives for these programs, Dr. Bovee teaches courses in systems infrastructure, system analysis and design, database design and processing, application development, networking, project management, computer and network security, information assurance, ethics in information technology, business continuity and disaster recovery planning and IT management.

Dr. Bovee brings 23 years of life experience to his classrooms, in which he guided organizations towards successful technology implementations and transformations. With extensive experience in both technical and management roles, he understands the importance of aligning IT strategy with business objectives. His expertise includes managing teams of professionals, implementing project management methodologies, overseeing the selection and deployment of new technologies, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. As a continued leader and consultant in the field of IT management, Dr. Bovee is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations to help CBU’s students remain competitive in today's fast-paced digital landscape.

Dr. Bovee’s research interests include knowledge management, collaboration systems, gamification, cloud computing, and information assurance. He has multiple publications and is a regular speaker at technology conferences.

Juan Piacquadio

Professor, Cybersecurity and Senior Information Technology Executive Biography

Juan Piacquadio is a digital transformation and business growth executive with over 20 years of experience in the technology space. He has led organizations across the US, EMEA, APAC and LATAM regions. This includes roles at Siemens, NEC, HP, NCR, St Jude Medical and Skanska.

In January 2023, the Healthcare Technology Report listed Juan in The Top 25 Healthcare Technology Leaders of Virginia for 2023.

Juan is a member of the Board of Directors and partner of Cystel, a cybersecurity company headquartered in the UK. Previously, he was a member of the Executive Advisory Board at the Center for Organizational Research at the School of Advanced Studies of the University of Phoenix and the Executive Advisory Board of the Consortium of Data Analytics at the Center for Healthcare Research at the same university.

While he is a thought leader and keynote speaker in cybersecurity, enterprise agility and big data, he is also a member of the adjunct faculty at California Baptist University, Colorado Christian University and Columbia International University.

Juan holds an MBA from the University of La Verne and an MS in IT from Azusa Pacific University. He is a published author and business administration doctoral candidate at the University of Liverpool, UK.

Donald Leaver

Professor, Cybersecurity and Senior Cyber and Intelligence Professional

Donald Leaver, is a Senior Cyber and Intelligence analytical professional and leader who utilizes expertise and proven methodologies to define direction and enable process/functional transformation. 31+ years’ experience in developing and analyzing intelligence data to make crucial national-level and business decisions. Leaver led teams that drove efficient solutions and comprehended the trends and meaning of data to improve client experience. Ability to create new ideas in an energetic fast-paced environment. Skilled at translating business needs to leading-edge technology. Self-motivated and collaborative. Committed, community-focused, dependable and exceptionally detail-oriented. Retired active-duty field-grade military commissioned officer.

Some of my colleagues have cyber degrees from other schools, and their degrees do not hold weight. They struggle with the fundamentals of IT or cyber security, whereas I have others higher up than me ask me, 'how do you know so much?' and I say it's because of my academic journey at CBU.
