
Marriage and Family Therapy, DMFT (Online)
In the DMFT program, students advance their clinical expertise, develop in supervision and consultation skills and work in leadership positions within the profession as well as organizations.
Program Intro
The Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) program is a 57-unit professional doctorate designed to advance the education and training of master's trained MFTs seeking to deepen clinical expertise, develop supervision and consultation skills, develop leadership in the profession, and contribute to the field through applied scholarship. The program is a practice-oriented doctoral program that positions graduates to provide advanced clinical services, supervise future therapists, consult for and assume leadership roles in organizations, and contribute to evidence-based practice.

The DMFT complements existing master’s-level training in MFT by offering a specialized practice doctorate that emphasizes applied clinical practice, supervision and consultation, leadership, and innovation. Drawing upon the practitioner-scholar model, graduates will learn how to apply theory and research in MFT to clinical practice at the doctoral level.
Provide effective clinical supervision and consultation
Graduates will be prepared to cultivate leadership skills for administration, advocacy, and innovation in behavioral health. Program Details
PSY 736: Behavioral Neuroscience
This course focuses on the biological bases of human behavior, exploring the structure and functioning of the brain, neurochemistry, hormones, genetic influences, and biological contributing factors to psychopathology.
PSY 761: Psychology and Christianity I: Theology
As the first of four courses, students focus on understanding and applying Christian theology to the foundations of clinical psychology.
PSY 776: Intervention VI: Group Approaches to Treatment
This course focuses on theoretical and evidence-based models of group therapy.
