Consistent with the university student outcomes, upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree, graduates will be able to:
- Display knowledge of the historical foundations of psychology and how the field of psychology has developed over time.
- Compare current theories of human nature, including both normal and abnormal psychological functioning.
- Analyze various structures and functions of the human brain and the brain’s influence on psychological functioning and behavior.
- Apply various research methodologies to psychological constructs in behavioral science.
- Demonstrate critical thinking by synthesizing psychological concepts into professional written communication.
- Evaluate ethical issues surrounding psychological constructs through the lens of the Christian worldview.
PSY 320: Life-Span Development
The course addresses principles of psychological development across time and culture. Students will understand universal stages of human development, influences on individual differences and the impact of nature and nurture.
PSY 328: Cognitive Psychology
This course provides an introduction into the structure and processes of the mind, focusing on topics including perception, attention, memory, decision-making and consciousness. Students will engage with research examining cognition from a behavioral, information-processing and a physiological perspective.
PSY 473: Psychophysiology
This course is an introduction to the capacity, limitations, and complexities of the human brain and its relationship to the neural and endocrine processes underlying brain function and behavior.
