Purpose

The purpose of the Community Partner Committee is to support the provision of relevant and effective academic, clinical, and professional education to MS SLP students at CBU. The Committee serves as a sounding board for the MS SLP program faculty and leadership, and the Committee will receive periodic updates, news, and changes initiated by the program. The Committee may also provide insight on any number of curricular or clinical education elements of the program including but not limited to:

  • Curricular content and course sequence
  • Course contents
    • Syllabus composition
    • Student Learning Outcomes
    • Textbooks or supplemental learning materials
  • Professional practice trends, both local and national
  • Assessment and validation of student competencies
  • Advancing the program’s mission in the community

Composition

The composition of the Community Partner Committee will include professionals with diverse areas of expertise. When Committee meetings are convened, the program faculty will recruit speech-language pathologists and other professionals who represent various clinical specialties and who reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic landscape of our community. Committee members may also include academics, administrators, and professionals from related fields as required by the meeting agenda.

Duties

Community Partner Committee members will be requested to attend online meetings. The MS SLP Program may convene Committee meetings as needed but typically meetings will occur once every two years. Committee members may also be contacted via email periodically with communications from the program. There may be instances when Committee members are asked to contribute additional service to the program, but this will be very infrequent (e.g., accreditation site visits). Committee members may be invited to campus or may engage with faculty online depending on convenience and availability.
