- Analyze ethical standards and legal requirements relevant to athletics, compliance and/or coaching practices.
- Design and evaluate strategic plans, budgets and operational systems that promote athletics program effectiveness and sustainability.
- Integrate evidence-based coaching methods, performance analytics and motivational strategies that enhance athlete development and team performance.
- Demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage athletes, staff, administrators and/or community stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive and sport-specific physical training and nutritional plans that promote athlete safety, health and sport performance.
- Design and evaluate marketing strategies for athletics programs and events, including tools to assess promotional effectiveness and audience reach.
- Integrate Christian perspectives as they relate to the field of athletic administration and coaching.
Program Details
KIN 515: Managing Sport Programs
This course covers various management issues, including policy development and implementation, management style and philosophy, and human resource issues. Also covered will be the interaction of sport managers with governing boards, administrators, and constituents.
KIN 545: Sport Marketing and Promotion
This course covers a variety of promotional and marketing strategies for sport programs and facilities, ranging from high school athletics through professional sports.
KIN 555: Sport Coaching & Officiating
This course will present prevailing theories of behavior, motivation, teaching, and learning, as well as general and sport-specific examples of coaching and officiating techniques that will prepare athletics professionals to excel in the field.
