Faculty Experience in Research - Focus Groups

Developing a culture of research at CBU is a primary goal of the new Fletcher Jones Endowed Professor of Research.  This event aims to provide an opportunity for faculty to describe their experiences of doing research (or not) here at CBU.  What has worked?  What are barriers? What kinds of supports are desired?  This is an opportunity for CBU faculty to highlight their experiences and to help shape the activities that support the development of research across campus. Click the date below to register for this opportunity.

January 18th, 10:30am - 11:30am

January 19th, 1:15pm - 2:15pm

January 20th, 3:45pm - 4:45pm

Doing Research at a Teaching University - Faculty Learning Community

Good intentions to do research do not magically remove the barriers that often stand in the way of actually doing research.  This learning community aims to help participants identify common barriers to engaging research at teaching institutions and equip them with tools and resources to overcome these barriers.  We will read and discuss Robert S Tyan and Avidan Milevsky's (2017) text Launching a Successful Research Program at a Teaching University.

Tuesday Group will meet: 2/1, 2/15, 3/1, 3/15, 3/29 (10:30 - 11:30am) Register Here

Wednesday Group will meet: 2/2, 2/16, 3/2, 3/16, 3/30, 4/13 (3:00 - 4:00pm) Register Here

Writing Connection Group

One challenge we face is finding the time to sit and write! Join Erin Smith, Ken Nehrbass, and Ted Murcray on Fridays from 1pm-3pm to spend time writing.  You can either join us in person at the Teaching and Learning Center (Lancer Arms 50) where we have tea, coffee, and sometimes snacks, or you can join us virtually in our Zoom room.  Whether you are ready to sit down and crank out 500 words or you just want to sit and ponder over an important sentence, this time is dedicated to supporting you through the writing process.  The time is flexible.  Join us for the full two hours, or just pop in for 30 minutes.  Come and go as you need, and really connect with others in the writing process.

Zoom room or TLC - Lancer Arms North #50, Fridays 1-3pm (flexible)

If you would like a calendar invitation for these times with the Zoom link included, just send a request to the TLC, and we will happily send it over.
