The Banner is California Baptist University’s biweekly newspaper, established in 1952. The Banner serves to report the news on campus and is a publication dedicated to unbiased representation of campus and local activities and events.

The Banner took home a Newspaper Pacemaker Finalist award at the 2021 Associated Collegiate Press National College Media Convention, the oldest and most prestigious awards in college media. The Banner also received first place in 2021 in the photojournalism category at the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards for a photo in The Banner by Elijah Hickman.

The Banner has earned numerous awards for writing, photography, layout, cartooning, breaking news, sports coverage, front page design and more from the California College Media Association, Evangelical Press Association, College Media Association, Baptist Communicators Association and others — sometimes beating out professional staffs and experienced freelancers also competing.
