On behalf of our outstanding student athletes, coaches and staff, I want to thank you for your interest in the Lancer Athletics Association. The LAA is the fundraising arm of Lancer Athletics. Whether you are a long-time supporter or a first-time donor, I want to emphasize the importance of your decision to be a part of "The Team Behind the Team." Every dollar donated directly impacts our student-athletes. The funds raised support capital projects, recruiting efforts, facility improvements and provide needed scholarships.
LAA support has translated to the field of play and the classroom. Since transitioning to the NCAA Division II, Lancer Athletics have won 3 PacWest Commissioner's Cups—the first school to do so—and finished 16th in the NCAA Division II Learfield Sports Director's Cup, 10 spots higher than last year.
In the past two years, the Lancers have gone 244-81-3 in games on our campus which is a testament to how much our fans mean to our success! This past year, our student-athletes won 4 conference championships and an amazing 12 teams qualified for NCAA postseason play. We even saw both of our basketball teams advancing to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16, with the women moving on to the championship game to finish the year as the No. 2 team in the division. CBU cheer also won its third straight National Cheerleading Association Championship, becoming the first all-girls Division II program to accomplish the feat and remain undefeated since 2013.
On the academics side, our Lancers continue to excel and our departing senior athletes boasted a 3.17 grade point average, finishing their careers with both athletic and academic accolades for their résumé. We are excited about the future of our programs and with your help we can continue building on the tradition of success that has been established.
The Team Behind the Team campaign requests the support of alumni, family and fans. This is a special invitation to join the LAA and partner with Lancer Athletics and the 20 varsity programs on the CBU campus. The mission of our athletic program is to honor Christ through excellence in athletics. With your support, we will be a model of excellence on the field of play, in the classroom and in our community.
