Homecoming 2016 - November 4 & 5
Homecoming 2016 is gearing up to be a fun-filled and nostalgic weekend! This year marks the 66th anniversary of the university, and the 50th reunion year for the Class of 1966. With that in mind, the theme for this year's Homecoming Weekend is Route 66.
We are planning a wide variety of activities throughout the weekend - there will be fun for the whole family! Friday will kick off the weekend with our Homecoming Chapel (students only), featuring worship music led by The Digital Age (formerly the David Crowder Band), and guest speaker, Josh Daffern ('99).
The annual Homecoming Awards Dinner will be held on Friday evening. There we will honor some of CBU's outstanding alumni with the presentation of the 2016 Alumni Awards. The 2016 Alumni Award recipients are: Dave King ('69) - Lancer Medal for Lifetime Achievement Award; Darrel Walker ('75) - Alumnus of the Year; Mike McGuffee ('74) - Distinguished Service in Christian Ministry Award; Candice Trummell ('07) - Young Alumni Achievement Award; and Eric McBride ('09) - Alumni Service Award. The dinner will also feature the comedy of internet sensation Joel Berry ('98). Berry was Mr. CBU in 1998 and has gone on to make a name for himself through the comedy skits of his self-created character, "Tavin Dillard." Berry will also be one of the many former Mr. & Ms. CBC/CBU winners who will be invited back as this year's special guests.
Saturday will kick off with the annual Alumni Meeting, followed by a free pancake breakfast hosted by the Lancers Athletics Association. The day will continue with the annual Homecoming Block Party, which will include the second annual Music "Zest"ival, featuring The Digital Age. Saturday will also feature class reunions and campus tours, providing opportunities to connect with old friends and to make new ones. Special reunions are planned for the classes of 1966, 1986, 1991, and 2006, who are celebrating milestone reunions. Additionally, a reunion will be held for our Golden Lancers (students from the 1950s and 1960s), as well as a special reunion for former Homecoming Royalty and Mr. & Ms. CBC/CBU honorees. The weekend will once again wrap up with the Fortuna Football games and fireworks show.
