1. What is kinesiology?
Kinesiology is often defined as the study of human movement. The Master of Science in Kinesiology at CBU encompasses the experience of physical activity, the theoretical and conceptual bases of physical activity, and the professional practice centered in physical activity.

2. What are the program's entry dates and application deadline?
The MS in Kinesiology offers a rolling admission policy, and accepts students for the fall (September), spring (January) or summer (May) semesters. Students may begin the program in any semester or term. Information regarding application deadlines for each start term can be found here.

3. What are the program's prerequisites?
There are no prerequisites for the sport management concentration; however, the physical education concentration requires a minimum of 12 semester units of study in kinesiology including a basic movement anatomy or related course completed with a "C" or better. The Exercise Science concentration requires courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics or the equivalent.

4. What is the GPA/GRE requirement?
Candidates must have a minimum 2.75 GPA for unconditional admission (no GRE required). Applicants with a GPA below 2.75 may be considered for admission with the presentation of a minimum combined score of 1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or a passing score on the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET).

5. Does the MS in Kinesiology offer any specializations?
Yes. Candidates may choose between the sport management, exercise science and physical education concentrations. All students in the Master of Science in Kinesiology will complete 15 units of core courses and 18 units of concentration coursework.

6. How long does the program take?
Students in the sport management concentration can complete the program in as little as one year. The physical education concentration incorporates 15 week education courses which may impact the amount of time needed to complete the program.

7. Can I work full time while enrolled in the program?
Yes. While graduate work involves a considerable amount of time for reflecting on and applying classroom theory, many of our students continue to work full time in public and private schools, athletic departments, and various other professions. 

8. When do classes meet?
The MS in Kinesiology program is designed to accommodate the busy schedules of working adults. Kinesiology classes are typically offered in the evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. Students will normally complete three classes per academic semester. Education courses are 15 week courses scheduled Monday through Thursday at 4:30 and 7 p.m.
