Application Requirements

Late applications are accepted and considered as space allows.

  1. Application for admission with a $45 nonrefundable graduate application fee
  2. A bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer engineering from a regionally accredited institution or the evaluated equivalency is preferred. Completion of a non-ECE degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 15 units in electrical and computer engineering may be considered.
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for admission.
  4. Official sealed transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, sent to the attention of Graduate Admissions
  5. Three letters of recommendations. Two from academic sources are preferred, if you have recently been in an academic setting, otherwise you may use professional references from managers, clients, etc. Family and friends may not complete recommendations.
  6. Résumé including up to 10 years of professional experience and all postsecondary education
  7. An essay of at least 1,000 words that includes the following:
    • Academic/career goals and interests
    • Experience with and interest in research and development
    • Readiness for graduate study
    • Access to external funding, government fellowships, corporate sponsorships, etc. 
  8. Successful interview with the program director
  9. An applicant whose first language is not English and/or does not have a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction is required to demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting a recent test score from Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
