Courses
All students in the Master of Science in Athletic Training will complete a common
set of core courses. Graduates of this program will complete eight (8) clinical rotations
which includes 18 weeks of immersive clinical experience (2, 4-week and 1, 10-week
immersive). While in the program students will receive exposure to different professional
athletic training settings including high schools, community colleges, universities,
industrial and performing art sites, clinics, physician offices, and professional
sport environments.
This course is the first in a series of clinical education courses that will allow students to review, apply and demonstrate competency of clinical skills gained in previous learning environments. Introduction of new concepts specific to the appropriate clinical progression of the student will be included. This course will include a 4-week immersive clinical experience not to exceed an average of 35 hours/week and two 8-week clinical experiences not to exceed an average of 10 hours/week. All clinical education hours acquired in this course will be supervised by a Preceptor in various Athletic Training clinical settings. (4 units; Fall)

This course provides training for students to be a First Responder, prepared to administer emergency care required for catastrophic and/or life-threatening injuries and illnesses to physically active individuals. Completion of this course provides certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, bloodborne pathogens, AED and first aid.
