Intercultural Studies Minor

The intercultural studies minor (18 units) prepares students to be theologically grounded, globally knowledgeable and practically skilled for global development through church and service organizations.

A general survey of the redemptive activity of God in the world -- past, present, and future. Topics include the biblical basis of God's global activity, historical perspectives, mission strategies, and cultural implications, as well as contemporary missiological issues. (3 units; Spring)

This course is a study of the biblical and theological foundations of global missions with the aim of articulating mission methods and contextualizing mission opportunities. Students will discover the mission of the church in reaching the nations and will explore the historical, anthropological, and sociological roots of missionary efforts. Students will also learn to apply missiological methods in global and urban settings. (3 units)

ICS410 Global and Urban Ministries

This course focuses on theories and practical strategies for local and global development. Students will examine a theology of community, institutions such as the "marketplace", and the biblical and historical role of the church in community development. Prerequisites: 3 units of Biblical Studies or ICS 105 or 305. (3 units; Spring)
