BSW Program Assessment Data

The BSW program uses two assessment measures to assess student performance in all ten student learning objectives/competencies, as required by the Council on Social Work Accreditation (CSWE). The description of the measures and summary of yearly assessment data are publicly provided as a requirement of CSWE:

  • Measure 1: Skills Evaluation- Field Instructor Assessment
    • Assessment of Competence for Measure #1 Done By: Field Instructor/Personnel and Faculty Liaison
  • Measure 2: Case File Assignment and Presentation
    • Assessment of Competence for Measure #2 Done By: Faculty/Course Instructor

For Measure 1, the Skills Evaluation-Field Instructor is completed in both the fall and spring semesters. Ultimately, the scores on the spring semester evaluation are used to determine the percentage of students meeting competency.

For Measure 2, the percentage of students that attained the benchmark for each outcome measure is determined by averaging the percentage/grade for each part together to obtain the percentage of students demonstrating competence and calculating whether this percentage is higher than the competency benchmark of 80%.
