Special Public Safety Notice
March 14, 2014 — A security threat on the campus of California Baptist University was resolved today in approximately one hour through the rapid response and cooperation of CBU Public Safety officers and the Riverside Police Department. No one was injured in the incident.
The incident began around 11:16 a.m. when a CBU employee observed an unidentified man jumping over a fence onto the campus. Public Safety officers were notified immediately and the intruder was observed a short time later in a campus residential area. A Riverside Police Department officer who happened to be on campus at the time was notified and summoned additional response. Police located the intruder outside a campus apartment where he was subsequently apprehended.
In accordance with the university's Emergency Management Plan, multiple notices were sent to residents by email and text message alerting them to the situation and advising them to remain in place or stay away from the area.
Public Safety and Riverside Police units on the scene reported the incident was concluded safely at approximately 12:20 p.m.
