Lancers Men?S Basketball Hosts Special Olympics Clinic
RIVERSIDE (Nov. 4, 2013) --- California Baptist University may be gearing up for a new season, but the Lancers men took time to host a basketball clinic for Special Olympics athletes Saturday morning.
"We are so appreciative for this opportunity to work with the Special Olympians in the Inland Empire," said CBU head coach Rick Croy. "It is a day our men will treasure forever and a relationship we look forward to continuing to build."
The Lancers took the athletes through a dynamic warm-up followed by various shooting and dribbling drills. To cap off the morning, they played a game of "Beat the Buzzer" where athletes had to make a basket with just seconds on the clock. If the shooter made the basket, he or she moved on to the next round with fewer seconds until there was just two seconds left and one winner.
After the clinic, the Lancers signed posters and gave each participant a ticket to an upcoming CBU basketball game. CBU opens the new season next Saturday, Nov. 9, on the road in St. George, Utah.
