Lancer Teams Score Victories In Weekend Games

RIVERSIDE (Feb. 10, 2014) ---As the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold. Both the men's and women's Lancer basketball teams defended their home court Feb. 8 and defeated Azusa Pacific University, which previously handed the CBU men their only defeat so far this season.

In addition, Lancer softball shut out its opponents in the Desert Stinger Tournament hosted by Montana State Billings, and Lancer baseball defeated California State University San Bernardino at home and away games Friday and Saturday.

The No. 13-ranked men Lancers defeated Azusa 74-55 to remain on top of the PacWest with a 14-1 conference record, sitting 20-1 on the season. The Cougars drop to 11-9 overall, 7-7 in conference.

Ryan Berg led three Lancers scoring in double figures with 18 points (6-for-15), followed by Anthony Cosentino with 17 points (6-for-13). Chris Brown rounded out the trio with a 10-point performance, going 5-for-8 from the field and dishing three assists without turning the ball over.

The Lancers improve to 11-10 overall, 9-6 in the PacWest, while the Cougars fall to 14-6, 12-2 in conference.

A balanced attack led CBU as no Lancer finished the night with scores in double figures. Cassidy Mihalko was just on the cusp of double-digits, ending the night with nine points (3-for-7). Olivia Weber (4-for-11) and Jasmine Sauser (2-for-6) followed with eight points each.

CBU now stands 8-1 on the season after outscoring its opponents 56-18 in the Desert Stinger Tournament, hosted by Montana State Billings.
