Homecoming at California Baptist University returning to Fall

RIVERSIDE (April 10, 2012) – California Baptist University will be moving its annual Homecoming Block Party Weekend to the fall with the next event date set for November 1-3, 2012.

In an effort to include more guests in Homecoming activities, University officials decided to move Homecoming to its former calendar slot during the fall semester, which is also the traditional time for Homecoming events at collegiate institutions across the nation.

Maria Zalesky, CBU Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, said the move allows the school to combine some large events, creating an even bigger impact by a campus event that has grown significantly in the last few years.

"We are looking forward to another fantastic weekend with the same level of exciting activities and the addition of the annual favorite Fortuna Bowl flag football games," Zalesky said. The Fortuna Bowl, contested annually on the front lawn of the CBU campus, attracts thousands of alumni, students and parents.

The fall 2012 Homecoming celebration will be CBU's second of the year. Some 4,500 persons attended Homecoming festivities February 17-18, 2012, featuring a bonfire and pep rally as well as televised men's and women's basketball games.
