CBU Students Register To Vote In November Election
CBU students register to vote in November election
RIVERSIDE (Sept. 25, 2012) -- More than 620 California Baptist University students joined the ranks of registered
voters during a drive to register students for the upcoming November elections.
The registration drive allowed students to register as first-time voters, apply for
absentee ballots and update voter information. This year's total was nearly twice
the number of CBU students who participated in the fall 2011 registration drive, according
to a CBU official.
Many CBU students were excited to have the chance to register and make their opinions
heard, said Kitty Johnson, who represented the Riverside County Office of Voter Registration
as petitioner and organizer of the campus registration drive.
"Your students are incredible and so nice," Johnson said. "So many students told
me ‘We really want to register to vote. We are so glad you are here!'"
Students, many registering for the first time, were able to visit a booth set up
by Johnson outside the Alumni Dining Commons over a nine-day period.
