CBU Performances of Hms Pinafore Begin April 4
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (April 4, 2014)—California Baptist University will continue the 2014 theatre season by presenting Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore Friday, April 4, through Saturday, April 12.
The story takes place aboard the British ship H.M.S. Pinafore where a navy captain's daughter, Josephine, falls in love with a lower-class sailor instead of her father's choice, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Joseph Porter. This charming story pokes fun at the Royal Navy, parliamentary politics and the rise of unqualified people to positions of authority.
"HMS Pinafore is filled with challenging vocals, intricate synchronous choreography, ornate costumes and entire British Man-of-War on stage," said Lee Lyons, professor of theatre.
Performances are scheduled Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturdays .General admission tickets are $12; discounted tickets are $10 for the Saturday matinees, senior citizens, CBU students, faculty, staff and alumni.
