California Baptist University Records Historic Enrollment Numbers For Fall 2013
RIVERSIDE (Sept. 27, 2013) — Fall 2013 enrollment at California Baptist University posted the largest one-year numerical increase in the institution's history, with an 18 percent increase above the fall 2012 enrollment figure, President Ronald L. Ellis announced today.
Ellis reported the record enrollment of 7,144 students at the annual fall meeting of the CBU board of trustees.
He said the figure represents an increase of 1,113 students over the previous record of 6,031 students enrolled in fall 2012. It is the 13th year the university has announced at least a triple digit increase since 1995 and the first year to register a four-digit increase.
"A 1,000-plus year over year enrollment increase is an extremely rare occurrence for institutions the size of CBU," Ellis said. "This is really an historic year."
This year's figure represents an enrollment increase of 784 percent since Ellis began his tenure as president in 1994 with an enrollment of 808 students. The dramatic growth included boosts in all three of CBU's market segments – traditional undergraduate, graduate, and online and professional studies.
California Baptist University offers 154 undergraduate majors and concentrations and 39 master's degree programs. Founded in 1950, CBU is a private comprehensive institution located in Riverside, Calif. and affiliated with California Southern Baptist Convention.
