California Baptist University is proud that Provider Contract Food Services, a local homegrown company with global appeal, provides the campus community with quality food service options.  Provider manages the on-campus food service program, campus catering services and on-campus vending. The University Card Services Office and Provider work closely together to create dining options that meet the needs of the CBU community.

Meal Plans consist of two parts:

  • Meal Swipes can be used to obtain a full meal.  Meal Swipes are limited to six (6) "swipes" per day and have a five minute delay between "swipes".
  • Dining Dollars are a pay-as-you-go option that will work similar to an ATM debit card. Dining Dollars may be used to obtain a full meal or individual items and are accepted at any of the campus dining locations.

Undergraduate residential students must purchase a meal plan (minimum requirements are listed in the table below). Graduate residential students (in Graduate Student Housing) and commuter students are not required to purchase a meal plan but may choose from all the plans offered. Meal Plans are sold by the semester. Unused Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars do not rollover from semester to semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unused Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars will not rollover.

Students must use Dining Dollars if they would like to obtain food for another person.

The dates that meal plans begin and end are listed on the InsideCBU Calendar, and available in the University Card Services Office.  Typically meal plan start and stop dates match the housing move-in and move-out dates.

Yes. Meal plans are designed to provide regular and consistent nutrition to students. The ease of access provided by a Meal Plan furthers academic and developmental effectiveness. Meal Plans also help to ensure that there is an adequate supply and variety of food for each week of the semester. Knowing how many students have purchased Meal Plans and being able to anticipate how often they will eat each day allows for proper planning to avoid shortfalls, especially at peak times during the semester. For this reason, Meal Swipes are limited to six (6) swipes per day. Meal swipes are to be used only for the student who purchased the Meal Plan.

Prior to the semester starting, students can use the Meal Plan Selection Portlet on InsideCBU (Life@CBU; University Card Services page) to make increases or decreases to their meal plan.

Once the semester has started, students should send an email to cardservices@calbaptist.edu from their LancerMail account, including the following information:

  • Name
  • ID #
  • Meal Plan they would like to change to. Email requests can only be for increases to the meal plan.

Meal Plan reduction requests must be submitted to the University Card Services Office no later than the first Friday of every semester. After this date, students can only increase their plan.

After you log on to InsideCBU, click the Life @ CBU tab and University Card Services folder (on the left of the screen). Use the Meal Plan Usage link for Meal Swipes and the CBU Card Balances link for Dining Dollars (also located on the left of the screen).
