Professional Accolades
Dr. Nathan Iverson, associate professor of psychology, received an Impact Award from the Pick Group of Young Professionals. The Pick Group is a diverse network of young professionals interested in engaging with and bettering the community while pursuing excellence in the workplace.
Campus News
CBU’s photography program hosted a photography workshop for community college and high school photography educators and students on Oct. 14. More than 60 participants attended from cities such as Northridge, Los Angeles, Murrieta and Riverside. CBU students, alumni and faculty, led by Christopher Kern, associate professor of photography, provided mentorship. Educational partners from Canon USA, Westcott Lighting and Hahnemühle Paper provided support.
The College of Arts and Science held an Arts & Science Field Day on Oct. 14. More than 300 people attended the event, aimed at engaging fourth through eighth grade students, although it was open to the whole family. Activities included viewing the solar eclipse, a scavenger hunt and making pinwheels.
Student Highlights
Students in the physician assistant studies graduate program made it to the final round in the California Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA) Student Challenge Bowl 2023 on Oct. 7. CBU finished in top 3 alongside with Chapman and Stanford. Students Paul Jones, McKenna Zarrell and Livia Donets made up the team.
Anna Chiu, an actuarial science major, passed the Financial Mathematics actuarial examination administered by the Society of Actuaries in August 2023. Students must pass seven exams to attain the first actuarial designation of Associate from either of the leading actuarial societies (Society of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society).
