Dr. Robert LaChausse, professor of public health, received a Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act grant for the fourth year from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for $49,977. This program aims to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth and young adults ages 12-20 in communities throughout the United States

Richard Webb, maintenance technician III for Facilities and Planning Services was named employee of the month for October. His nomination included the following statements: “Rick exemplifies dedication and a strong work ethic in every aspect of his role. He takes pride in completing tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible, without sacrificing quality. He is always the first to step in and support his colleagues without hesitation, consistently offering help with a positive and collaborative attitude. His unwavering dedication, reliability and pursuit of excellence make him a true asset to our department and a blessing to the University community.”
In 2024-25, the College of Arts and Sciences launched an award to recognize excellent and innovative teaching, with one recipient for the Division of Arts and Letters and the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. Students, colleagues, alumni and staff could nominate full-time faculty. Department chairs selected up to two nominees to advance to the final round. From those, the dean and associate deans selected the inaugural winners: Dr. Carla Liu, associate professor of English, for Modern Languages and Literature, and Dr. Esther Lee, associate professor of statistics, for Natural and Mathematical Sciences.
