Making an Impact

Dr. Adele Harrison, Kylie Hatfield and Enrique Cruz
The Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business sent representatives to present to Martin Luther King High School’s DECA Club on Oct. 10 in Riverside. This outreach is for high schoolers interested in business careers. Dr. Adele Harrison, professor of finance, Enrique Cruz and Kylie Hatfield, both finance students, presented on entrepreneurial finance. Dawn Carter, industry liaison for the School of Business, presented on marketing.

Dr. Danny Blair, professor of deaf studies, and Dr. Kristin Mauldin, associate professor of sport and performance psychology, were invited to the sendoff of Team USA to the Deaflympics in Tokyo. The reception was held at the Japanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 30. Their respective programs are sponsoring Team USA. A group of CBU students who are in the American Sign Language Club or the Master of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology program are attending the Deaflympics in November.

Did you know that CBU has a Student Health Center available for ALL STUDENTS right here on campus? The Health Center is a part of the CBU Wellness Center located on Monroe Street next to the Health Science Campus. The goal of the Wellness Center is to provide effective health, wellness and counseling services that promote academic and personal success. The Health Center is available to all members of the campus community. Health Center staff can address most conditions that are treated in an urgent care facility.

Student Highlights

Engineering students
Dr. Jong-Wha Bai, professor of civil engineering and construction management, and 13 engineering students visited the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Iron Worker Training Center in La Palma, California, on Oct. 23. They learned about structural steel fabrication and participated in hands-on activities such as welding.
