Professional Accolades
CBU's Marketing and Communication team took home six awards, including the top honor — Best in Show — at the Public Relations Society of America, Inland Empire Chapter, Polaris Awards Gala held in Riverside on Nov. 8. Awards were received for media relations for the Aviation program, video content for the Kids Campus Tour and the 2023 CBU Christmas Card; and marketing and public relations for 2023 SoPA Season Tickets and 2023 A CBU Christmas campaign. The Best in Show was awarded for the 2023 A CBU Christmas marketing campaign for developing and executing a fully integrated campaign that created awareness, supporting the first time A CBU Christmas sold out all three performances.
Sonya Singh, instructor of journalism, was named a 2024 Distinguished Adviser by the College Media Association for her time working with Lancer Media Group. The Adviser Awards took place at the Fall National Media Convention hosted by CMA and the Associated Collegiate Press in New Orleans on Nov. 1.

Student Highlights
Nico Carrillo (’24) received first place, extreme sports, in the 2024 International Photography Awards. Austin Elliott, Jaydon Miller, Josiah Grant and Carrillo each received an Honorable Mention. Additionally, 14 other photographs by students were part of the Official Selection list. The awards are an annual competition for professional, amateur and student photographers. A jury of renowned photography experts judged 14,000 entries from 120 countries.
Sydney Aguas, English graduate student, presented “I was unmade”: Divine Love and the Case for Devouring in C. S. Lewis’s “Till We Have Faces.” Pacific Ancient and Modern Languages Association (PAMLA) Conference in Palm Springs on Nov. 7.

Personal Milestones
Elissa Etcu, clinical instructor of nursing, and her husband, Andrew, welcomed a son on Sept. 2. Everett weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. He joins brother Wyatt, 2.
