Dr. Brenda De La Rocha Beltran
Dr. Brenda De La Rocha Beltran, adjunct professor of finance, obtained a doctorate in business administration from CBU’s Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business. She successfully defended her dissertation, Imposter Syndrome and Intersectionality Among Latina Doctoral Students, on April 23.

Campus News

On May 1, the Career Center partnered with Ramona High School to facilitate mock interviews for 40 students in the WorkAbility I program, a nationally recognized school-to-work initiative supporting special education students ages 16 and older. Erick Lomeli, career counselor, shared practical career success tips and encouragement to students at the conclusion of the event.

In the Classroom

Tom Brooks
Tom Brooks, assistant director of music, brought in Edwin Carranza, music director, producer and bassist, to the Collinsworth School of Performing Arts. Carranza gave students a look at what musical leadership requires, the relationships that sustain a career and how to navigate high-stakes performance environments with confidence.

Stevo Evans
Stevo Evans, program director for commercial music studies, hosted a Production Lifecycle Conversation, bringing industry professionals to campus on March 21. Producer Harmony Samuels, songwriter A-Rod, mixing engineer IRKO, artists and repertoire representative Matt Ciancimino worked together to write a song, build the beat and show students what producing looks like.

Emily Benford, adjunct professor of music, hosted panel She Got the Mic: Women in Production. Benford brought ChéLa McIntyre, Erica Hayes and Ashley Lomax from the music industry together for a conversation about navigating the industry, building authority and staying for the long haul. The event took place in CBU’s JoAnn Hawkins Music Building on April 17.

Dr. Stacy Meyer, assistant professor of education, Dr. Julie Kim, lecturer of education, Aaliyah Miller, program assistant, and students in the Metcalf School of Education attended the annual MOSAIC-Legacy Gala on April 30. Hosted by the Riverside County Office of Education, the gala celebrated incoming college freshman who received academic scholarships. The students were Breanna Winn, Ryan Garcia, Allison Gates and Christina Viyar.
