Student Highlights

Selena Cisneros, Brianna Sanchez, Jessica Johanson, Meona Kwan and Keyry Diaz-Aguillon, all speech-language pathology students, placed third in the College Bowl at the California Speech and Hearing Association Convergence 2025 conference in Pasadena on March 13-16. Students from nine universities competed to answer questions from the licensure exam. Mercy Homer, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders, coached the CBU team. Two students also co-presented at the conference: Jonathan Sterling — I’m a SLPA! Wait. Now What?: Going Beyond the Textbook, and Silvia Arzate — Diversity in Action: Embracing Diversity for Holistic Evaluation and Navigating Diversity: Insights from the D&I Committee.
CBU CAVAD Team
Students from the College of Architecture, Visual Arts and Design received 34 awards at the 2025 American Advertising Awards – Inland Empire in Riverside on March 21. The wins included Best of Show, the Special Judges Award and 12 Gold awards. In the professional category, Michael Berger, professor of graphic arts, Christopher Kern, associate professor of photography, Dirk Dallas, dean of CAVAD, and several CBU alumni received 14 awards, including 3 Gold.
