Dr. Steve Neilsen
CBU has been awarded $1,896,660, through the FIPSE-SP program from the U.S. Department of Education. This award will fund the program Supporting Capacity-Building for High-Quality Short-Term Programs, with Dr. Steve Neilsen, dean of access and retention, as project director.

CBU's Marketing and Communication team took home seven awards at the Public Relations Society of America, Inland Empire Chapter, Polaris Awards Gala held in Riverside on Nov. 13. Awards were received for video content for the 30th Anniversary Video; media relations for the Aim High Flight Academy; social media for CBU Dads Video and CBU in Miniature; marketing for Best Kept Secret No More, A CBU Christmas and Military Marketing Campaign.

Sonya Singh, instructor of journalism, has a portrait of the musician Kris Kristofferson featured in Through the Lens, a photography exhibit in Paris, Tennessee, showcasing images with stories behind them. The exhibit opened Nov. 23 at the Paris Academy for the Arts and will run through February.

Members of CBU’s Tres Pasos program attended a STEM project presentation at Casa Blanca Elementary School on Dec. 15. Second-graders came up with ideas on how to improve Villegas Park. They created prototypes of their ideas using only recycled material and presented them to the panel. The panel consisted of Dr. Humberto Gallegos, professor of civil engineering, Wendy Barbosa-Bulrice, HSI grant coordinator, Dr. Mario Oyanader, professor of chemical engineering, and Dr. Michael Sill, professor of mathematics.
