Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, president of CBU, recently published his first book, We Are Ready: A President’s Preparation and Purpose. (WestBow Press, Dec. 2). In it, he shares his journey of becoming president and how choosing Matthew 28:19-20 for a Vacation Bible School assignment led to it becoming not only his life’s verse but his vision for a University committed to the Great Commission.

Student Highlights
National Society of Black Engineers Student Chapter
The CBU student chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) won first place in the InnoTech AI Impact-A-Thon competition at the 2024 NSBE Fall Regional Conference in San Diego on Nov. 22-24. The event challenged participants to develop technology-driven solutions to address healthcare disparities, specifically focusing on racial inequities affecting the Black community. CBU's team, named Invision, defeated teams from UCLA, USC and San Jose State.

Samuel James Bossert
Jim Bossert, head men’s and women’s swimming coach, and his wife, Alyson, adjunct professor of English, welcomed a son on Dec. 22. Samuel James Bossert weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. He joins brother Charlie, 3.
Molly Jo Morris
Dr. Charles Sands, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, and his wife, Jennifer, welcomed their third grandchild on Dec. 29. Molly Jo Morris weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 22 inches. Her parents are Kendall (’18, ’22) and Amber Leigh Morris (’19).

Andy Degan, adjunct professor of music, and his wife, Vanessa, welcomed a daughter on Dec. 19. Jordyn Kalia Degan weighed 7 pounds and measured 21 inches.
